JAZZ ON WHEELS RECEIVES 501(c)3 STATUS! That's right, Jazz on Wheels is now recognized as official non-profit entity. We are currently seeking sponsorship in hopes of taking our program to even more kids in the area. Since it's founding in 2002, Jazz on Wheels has performed for thousands of kids in mid-Michigan. From schools to civic functions to community picnics, we've done it all. We have focused primarily on the underserved neighborhoods in the area. Certain districts simply do not have the resources to provide their kids with much extra-curricular activity and this is where we come in.Jazz on Wheels attempts to fill part of this void by bringing our show to the people. A musical house call, if you will. Our upbeat, high-energy concerts take place on the back of our custom stage-truck. The truck itself is as popular with the kids as the band is! We have never left an audience unsatisfied and have never refused a group due to lack of funds. We have always operated on a donation basis. • • • Jazz on Wheels does not attempt to teach or preach to our audience. We simply entertain with hopes of stirring up the imagination of our young listeners. We demonstrate the similarities between Jazz and more contemporary music through our whimsical and satirical performance. Sometimes it's hard to tell who is having more fun, the crowd or the BAND!! Many kids have approached us years after a performance and excitedly updated us on their musical efforts or their endeavours in life in general. This is the ULTIMATE REWARD! • • • Jazz on Wheels hopes to someday sponsor a Youth Jazz Ensemble. There is a lot of great young talent out there and fewer and fewer venues exist for these kids to participate. Music has often played second fiddle to other activities in the academic arena but rather than sit idly by and whine, we'd like to help. With adequate sponsorship, Jazz on Wheels can make it happen.
