Jazz on Wheels was founded in 2002 by Pat Cronley and other Flint area musicians. The concept is based loosely on Dr. Billy Taylor's JazzMobile, which performed mobile concerts in the New York City area in the 60s and 70s. Like the JazzMobile, our shows take place on the back of a truck which has been transformed into a stage. Our audiences over the years have consisted mostly of students from Flint area schools as well as students from the Genesee Intermediate School District. We have always operated on a donation basis which has made it possible for virtually all kids to experience our show.

Jazz on Wheels received it's 501(c)3 non-profit status recently which will hopefully allow us to expand and increase our efforts in order to serve even more audiences. Our children are starving for good entertainment, something other than what is being offered on television and radio. Our show takes jazz music and presents it to the kids in way that allows them to see the connection between jazz and music of today.
Many of the most popular artists of today have been influenced by jazz.

Our musicians include Pat on piano along with;
Marcia Allen
Marcia is one of the premiere vocalists in the area. From jazz to soul to gospel to pop, she does it all. She has recorded two CDs and has been with Jazz on Wheels since it's beginning. She performs regularly at many local and regional venues.
Sabrina LaMarr
Sabrina "Saxy" LaMarr has also been with Jazz on Wheels since day one. She sings and plays the saxophone in a way only she can. She has toured the world with various groups and continues to maintain a rigorous performance schedule.
Ciara Curran
Ciara is a student at Powers Catholic High School although you would never guess that when you hear her sing. She has performed publicly since she was just a youngster. She has studied and performed in New York and appears locally singing the National Anthem at various events.
Eugene McBride
Eugene, like all of the above is a Flint native.At the tender age of 21 he is probably the finest drummer in the area, maybe in the state! He finished second in the Guitar Center Drum-Off held in Los Angeles last winter.
Many others will join us from time to time including; Sherm Mitchell, Nick Calandro, Larry McCray, Kevin Collins, Carlos Evans,
Nick Oppermann, Stan-the Man, Stan Gilbert, Steve McCray, Joe Wright, Ben Schlatter, Dave Huber and others.
You never know WHO will show up!
